Choi Ji Woo, Bae Yong Joon holds onto ‘Hallyu royalty’ status in Japan

 

Although there have been a flood of new Hallyu talent, actors Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo still reigned supreme as Japan’s ‘Hallyu King and Queen’.

A Japanese magazine recently conducted a survey called ‘Hallyu ranking star‘, where Choi Ji Woo ranked #1 in the ‘Most Popular’ and ‘Most Known Name’ surveys.

In the ‘Most Known Name’ section, Choi Ji Woo was followed by actresses Yoon Son Ha (2nd), Kim Tae Hee (3rd), Lee Young Ae (4th), and finally, Yoon Eun Hye (5th).

As for the male celebrities in the ‘Most Known Name’ survey, Bae Yong Joon (or ‘Yon-sama’) held onto his crown. New blood Jang Geun Suk came in 3rd, but he shone as #1 in the ‘Most Popular’ survey.

The survey was conducted with 300 women between the ages of 15-59 from August to September.

Gong Yoo’s ideal type is Yoon Eun Hye?

 

On September 6th, Gong Yoo attended the press related premiere event for his upcoming movie, ‘Crucible‘.

Knowing that Gong Yoo has starred with some of Korea’s top female actresses including Jung Yoo Jin, Im Soo Jung, and Yoon Eun Hye; reporters couldn’t resist to ask the question, “Who is your ideal type?”   Gong Yoo started to laugh and replied, “Kang In Ho (main character) will answer that question.”

Gong Yoo then commented that Jung Yoo Jin’s perfect characteristics could be a little overwhelming.  In regards to Im Soo Jung’s innocent appeal, Gong Yoo replied, “Innocent women could also be a bit boring“.  Finally, Gong Yoo admitted that if he had to choose an ideal type, he would want to meet a tomboy. Yoon Eun Hye was a tomboy in Coffee Prince, so the reporters assumed he was talking about her.

However, Gong Yoo stressed to the reporters, “What I just said is not directly targeted to Yoon Eun Hye, so please don’t write otherwise” which caused everyone to laugh.

On a side note, ‘Crucible‘ is a movie based on a true story about disabled students mistreated by the principal and teachers alike at a handicapped school.  The movie will open in theaters on September 22nd.

Which Korean Actress’ Face do Japanese Fans Love the Most?

Not only K-Pop idols are garnering explosive popularity in Japan, Korean actresses are drawing much attention as well. Among all Korean actresses, whose face do Japanese fans love the most? The winner goes to Kim Tae Hee.

A survey was conducted in Japan from June 3^rd to 28^th, with the question of “Which Korean Actress’s face do you want to have?” Including Kim Tae Hee, Song Hye Gyo, Son Ye Jin, Han Ye Seul, Moon Geun Young, Yoon Eun Hye and Goo Hye Sun, a total of 7 famous Korean Actresses were listed.

In response to the question, Kim Tae Hee was voted as No.1 (31.4%). The result is no surprise since her works “Stairway to Heaven” and “IRIS” are both receiving massive popularity in Japan. Her gorgeous face with its perfect proportion is definitely no news in Korea, now we know Japanese agree with that as well.

                   

No.2 goes to Song Hye Gyo (20.2%); despite the fact she has been focusing on her big screen career lately, her previous dramas are still receiving much love in Japan.

Yoon Eun Hye, who has recently just finished filming for drama “Lie to Me” won the third place (12.4%). With the airing of “Coffee Prince” and “Goong” in Japan, it is no surprise her lovely charm took over Japanese fans’ hearts.

The fourth to seventh are Son Ye Jin, Han Ye Seul, Goo Hye Sun and Moon Geun Young respectively.

Kim Jong Gook

Baek Ji Young

Sexy diva Baek Ji Young confessed that her complex was her “chicken legs.” She added “The muscles on the back side of my thighs were well developed since I was young. I’m not saying that my legs are too thick, but if I could ask for a little more, I wish they were a bit longer and slimmer than now.”

Won Bin

Previously, Won Bin had claimed that he had never thought that he was good-looking before. And at the “Ajjusshi” press conference, in explaining why he chose to shoot an intense action film aside from his popular “pretty boy” image, Won Bin confessed “Although it’s not a complex, I wanted to try transforming into a tough guy as I shot this movie so I worked out and lost weight.” He added, “Everyone has complexes. Brown Eyed Girls’ Ga-In

B2ST’s Lee Gi Kwang

Lee Gi Kwang has a height complex. In his past appearance in “Happy Together 3,” he stated that his “real height is exactly 170 cm.” When asked to measure his height, he said “I will measure my height only in places such as Ministry of Health and Welfare offices where you can measure it accurately.”

Big Bang

G-Dragon has been the center of controversy after his recent appearance in MBC’s “Infinite Challenge.” In the show, when G-Dragon stood next to Park Myung Soo, the two appeared as have similar heights when technically G-Dragon should be relatively much taller since his profile states that he’s 177 cm while Park Myung Soo is only 171.5 cm tall.

Tae Yang also faced some embarrassment due to his short height relative to 180 cm tall John Park in a photo that they posed together. In the past, he stated in an interview that “When I was young, I used to hate my short height but now I fine with it.” Big Bang members might be a bit short, but it doesn’t really matter because they’re still the best!

Kara members appeared on KBS’s “Happy Together 3” and unveiled their complexes…?! Park Gyu Ri claimed that her complex is her “no-make up face which is more beautiful than her make-up face,” while Han Seung Yeon confessed that her complex is her “unusually small head” because she has a hard time finding a hat that fits her since most of the hats available for sale happen to be too big for her. Also, Goo Hara unveiled her hang-up about “not gaining a lot of weight,” leaving all the guests and MCs dumbfounded. Kara’s youngest member Kang Ji Young delivered the last shot by claiming “I’m not sure what my complexes, making everyone jealous of her.

Previously, in KBS’s “Star Golden Bell, Goo Hara had also confessed that her complex is her “gummy smile.” Following Goo Hara’s confession, Super Junior’s Shin Dong tried to cheer her up by claiming, “Compared to Eun Hyuk’s gummy smile, yours is nothing.” Shortly after, Eun Hyun made a big smile to show off (?) his gums and said “I tried looking up celebrities who have gummy smiles and there are stars like Won Bin and Lee Hyori.” MC Ji Suk Jin made everyone at the set laugh by stating “there’s also comedian Kim Young Chul.” Fans seem to find it more charming and attractive how she doesn’t necessarily conceal her complex and normally flashes big smiles, rather than considering it her complex.

Yoon Eun Hye crowned as the ‘queen of loyalty’

CEO Yoon Young Ha of Verdi Media, the distribution company for SBS’s “Lie to Me“, recently crowned actress Yoon Eun Hye as the ‘queen of loyalty.’

“I’d like to express my gratitude towards Yoon Eun Hye for her kindness,” he said.

According to the CEO, Yoon Eun Hye was cast alongside the late Park Yong Ha for his drama, “Love Song.” Originally scheduled to begin airing in June of last year, the project was cancelled due to Park Yong Ha’s unfortunate suicide. At the time, Yoon Eun Hye consoled the CEO by promising, “I’ll be waiting for your next project.”

Yoon stated, “She must have received dozens of different role offers during that time, but she quietly kept her promise to me, which I’m eternally grateful for.”

Yoon Eun Hye’s act of loyalty doesn’t end there, though, as she was also revealed to have waited three years for her role in “My Black Mini Dress” as an act of friendship towards director Heo In Moo. For her role in “My Fair Lady“, she waited nearly a year for it despite the many delays the drama was met with.

When her “Coffee Prince” co-star Lee Eon was killed, she was reported to be one of the few that stayed by his wake for as long as she could and even accompanied his family all the way to the charnel house in Busan.

Yoon Eun Hye’s new drama, ‘Lie to Me’ with Kang Ji Hwan will air on May 9th.

Yoon Eun Hye & Kang Ji Hwan cast for SBS’s upcoming drama, “Lie to Me”

Actress Yoon Eun Hye will be making her return to the small screen after two years through SBS’s “Lie to Me” alongside actor Kang Ji Hwan!

On April 7th, a representative of SBS spoke through Newsen and revealed, “Yoon Eun Hye has confirmed her casting for ‘Lie to Me’, which will begin airing after ‘Midas.’  Filming began on the 6th.”

“Lie to Me” is a romantic comedy about a single woman pining for the life style of the married by plotting a marriage scam.  Her male partner is expected to be Kang Ji Hwan, who will also be marking his return to the small screen after previously running into controversy with the Korean Entertainment Management Association.

The drama, which is co-produced by PD Kim Su Ryong (“Green Rose“) and writer Kim Ye Rin (“Heading to the Ground“), will begin airing on May 9th.
