[Spoiler] “Love Rain” irresolute Jang Geun-seok

 

Yoona‘s heart is aching because of Jang Geun-seok‘s irresolution of yielding love to his friend.

On the second episode of the KBS 2TV drama “Love Rain” on the 27th, Seo In-ha (Jang Geun-seok) pushed away Kim Yoon-hee (Yoona) with the words, “Don’t misunderstand” when she got wind of his crush on her.

In a previous festival In-ha answered “Yes” to Hye-jeong’s (Son Eun-seo) question, “Is the fact that you don’t draw figure paintings just so you can draw only the one you love when she appears still available?” On In-ha’s canvas wasn’t Hye-jeong but Yoon-hee. However, he gave up on her for his friend Dong-wook (Kim Si-hoo) who also had feelings for her and tried to hide the painting.

When Yoon-hee, who came into the room to eat, showed interest in the drawing, In-ha lied and said, “It’s Hye-jeong, she asked me to draw it so much” but it was obvious that it was Yoon-hee and he told her, “Don’t misunderstand”.

He continued, “It doesn’t mean anything. You just happened to be there in the scene I was drawing”. He didn’t want to be misunderstood by his best friend and she had no choice but to turn away from him. Dong-wook used this opportunity to romantically propose to Yoon-hee and she accepted it.

Yuri’s ‘Fashion King’ beats YoonA’s ‘Love Rain’ in TV ratings

 

Before SBS‘s ‘Fashion King‘ and KBS‘s ‘Love Rain‘ even aired, people were highly anticipating both dramas because they would each be starring a member from Girls’ Generation.  At the same time, there were all sorts of predictions flying around the internet on which drama would come out on top in ratings.  TV ratings of both series from AGB Nielsen were recently revealed, and according to the results, ‘Fashion King’ triumphed over ‘Love Rain’–big time!

On March 27th, AGB Nielsen revealed that the first episode of ‘Love Rain’ recorded 5.8% in viewer ratings, much lower than what most had predicted.

On the other hand, ‘Fashion King’ drew in 9.2% in its latest episode, and did a good job hooking its audience with a fast paced story and an interesting plot.  It also needs to be taken into account that ‘Fashion King’ aired a week before ‘Love Rain’, which could have been one of the factors behind its higher rating.

It’ll be interesting to see how the ratings will change as the two dramas go on.

Meanwhile, MBC‘s ‘Light and Shadow‘ recorded a whopping 20.6%, grabbing first spot in this time slot.

Who is currently the hottest celebrity?

 

Fifty celebrity ‘experts’ recently picked out celebrities who they believed were the current ‘Hottest Stars’.  The number one recipient came out to be none other than actor Kim Soo Hyun.

The group of experts include various professional critics such as music, movie, drama, and television officials.  It’s a tough crowd to please, unless you’re Kim Soo Hyun at the moment.  Out of the 50 participants, thirty three experts picked out Kim Soo Hyun without a second thought, making him the ‘Hottest Star’ according to the survey.

Kim Soo Hyun’s popularity has skyrocketed after his role in MBC‘s ‘The Moon that Embraces the Sun‘.  He is probably the most favored actor currently which has lead him to an endless line of endorsement deals.  Kim Soo Hyun will be busy for a while, raking in all that cash.

Aside from Kim Soo Hyun, Big Bang followed behind by a big margin with only five votes while Girls’ Generation and actor Ha Jung Woo were tied for the third spot with just three votes each.

The experts also picked out celebrities who they deemed worthy of the titles, ‘Most Handsome Star’ and ‘Most Beautiful Star’.

Under the ‘Most Handsome Star’ category, actor Won Bin topped the list with seventeen votes, followed by Kim Soo Hyun and Jang Dong Gun.  Meanwhile, in the ‘Most Beautiful Star’ segment, Kim Tae Hee grabbed first place with 14 votes while Son Ye Jin and Lee Min Jung tied in for second.

Won Bin and Kim Tae Hee who are both in their thirties are still regarded as the most attractive stars in South Korea.  Their age doesn’t seem to have a negative affect on their appearance.

From October 20th through the 26th, music portal site, Monkey3 held an online survey where they asked their users, ‘Which Male Star Graduation Photo was the best?‘.  Young actor, Yoo Seung Ho dominated the poll as he collected 48% of the total votes.

Following behind were Song Joong Ki and Jang Geun Suk who received 16% and 12% of the total votes, respectively.

Other top celebrities on the list included Won Bin(11%), Kang Dong Won(9%), and So Ji Sub(4%).

Netizens left varying comments like, “Yoo Seung Ho is a living statue“, “The others are no push overs either“, “Why is there a big gap between Yoo Seung Ho and So Ji Sub?” and “I wonder who would win in a ‘Best Female Star Graduation Photo’ poll“.

KARA and Jang Geun Suk record high calendar sales in Japan

 

KARA and Jang Geun Suk have been recording high sales for their 2012 Japanese calendars.

A Japanese media outlet revealed on October 13th that “On ‘Recochoku Shopping’, KARA came in 2nd while Jang Geun Suk came in 3rd for the ranking of calendar sales during the two month period from August 1st to September 30th.

‘KARA 2012 Calendar’ was shot in Paris, and the members showcased their various charms ranging from cute to sexy through the photos. Jang Geun Suk evidenced his popularity as one of Japan’s top Hallyu stars with 2 calendars in the top 10; ‘Jang Geun Suk 2012 Calendar’ at #3, and ‘You’re Beautiful 2012 Calendar’ at #8.

In related news, KARA clinched the #1 spot on Japan’s Oricon ‘DVD Daily Chart’ for their ‘KARA’s All about Beauty’ released on October 12th.

Jang Geun Suk to release his first Chinese album

 

Singer/actor Jang Geun Suk will soon be releasing his first Chinese album, “The Lounge H vol. 1“, in China and Southeast Asia!

On October 12th, Jang Geun Suk opened his fanclub’s pre-order sales for the album’s special edition, and pre-orders will be available on the 14th for the general public. Pre-orders for the regular edition will open on the 14th as well. Amazingly, pre-order sales have already reached 65,000 albums, placing Jang Geun Suk among the ranks of top-selling Hallyu stars.

“The Lounge H vol.1″ features the talents of Jang Geun Suk’s music partner/musician Big Brother, who took part in writing, producing, re-making songs, and even rapping. The album will include 4 tracks, and the lead song will be “Gotta Getcha“, a track described to have a strong beat and powerful rap. Reportedly, Jang Geun Suk penned the lyrics for this song himself. In addition, the album will also include the music video and special backstage clips.

Last April, Jang Geun Suk debuted his single album, ‘Let Me Cry‘, in Japan, reaching #1 on the Oricon Weekly chart. With this new album waiting in the wings, it looks like Jang Geun Suk could conquer Chinese music charts next.

Logan Lerman praises Korean movies in an open talk with Jang Geun Suk

 

On October 9th for the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), Korean actor Jang Geun Suk and Hollywood actor Logan Lerman kicked off the ‘Open Talk’, ‘East Meets West: Today’s Stars on Tomorrow’s Cinema‘.

Logan Lerman commented, “I’m so surprised and happy that I am able to attend the Busan International Film Festival. The reaction is so hot and warm that it’s good fortune that I can talk in front of a Korean audience.”

He also explained his favorite Korean movie with, “I’ve been watching Korean movies on my own carefully. My personal favorite movie is ‘Old Boy‘, directed by Park Chan Wook. When I film movies I keep asking myself questions on one part consistently, but I really respect those who are able to expand on various ways in telling a story.”

Jang Geuk Seuk and Logan Lerman also showed off their friendship as they took pictures in front of their many fans.

Choi Ji Woo, Bae Yong Joon holds onto ‘Hallyu royalty’ status in Japan

 

Although there have been a flood of new Hallyu talent, actors Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo still reigned supreme as Japan’s ‘Hallyu King and Queen’.

A Japanese magazine recently conducted a survey called ‘Hallyu ranking star‘, where Choi Ji Woo ranked #1 in the ‘Most Popular’ and ‘Most Known Name’ surveys.

In the ‘Most Known Name’ section, Choi Ji Woo was followed by actresses Yoon Son Ha (2nd), Kim Tae Hee (3rd), Lee Young Ae (4th), and finally, Yoon Eun Hye (5th).

As for the male celebrities in the ‘Most Known Name’ survey, Bae Yong Joon (or ‘Yon-sama’) held onto his crown. New blood Jang Geun Suk came in 3rd, but he shone as #1 in the ‘Most Popular’ survey.

The survey was conducted with 300 women between the ages of 15-59 from August to September.

Jang Geun Suk to sing Korean anthem at charity baseball match in Tokyo Dome

 

The second annual Korean / Japanese Dream Games at the Tokyo Dome will be taking place on the 24th, and Hallyu star Jang Geun Suk is scheduled to sing Korea’s national anthem at the event.

Dream Games is a match between the retired All-Star Japanese pro baseball players against a baseball team made up of Korean celebrities. This year’s event will raise money to help the victims of the earthquake victims of Japan. Jang Geun Suk will also be throwing the first pitch for the game.

Jang Geun Suk will be in Nagoya on the 20th, Osaka on the 22nd – 23rd, and Tokyo from the 25th to the 26th. He is currently filming ‘Love Rain‘ (directed by Yoon Sukho) with SNSD‘s Yoona.
